Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for targeting advertisements based on consumer budget patterns.  The method and system selects an advertisement that represents a product with a price in a range of a consumer budget for a particular product category.  Thus, the method and system selects advertisements that are more relevant to consumers and improves the user experience.

Description

When consumers want to purchase a product, the consumers naturally filter out the products based on price.  The consumers allocate different budget for products of different categories.  For example, when a consumer buys a car, the consumer prefers luxury brands, but the consumer chooses to eat at places that are moderately priced.  Similarly, a female consumer is likely to allocate a much bigger budget to beauty related products than everyday household products.

Disclosed is a method and system for targeting advertisements based on consumer budget patterns.  The method and system selects an advertisement that represents a product with a price in the range of the consumer's budget for a particular product category.  The method and system refines a targeting profile for advertising and provides a great enhancement to targeting advertisements by targeting based on spending habits in various product categories.  The method and system selects advertisements that are more relevant to consumers for improving the user experience.  Thus, the consumers are more likely to purchase items that the consumers view on advertisements.  The method and system makes ad...
