Abstract

There was a need to isolate wellbore reservoir pressure and pump down pressure with different ratings with a same tool that can pass through 1-7/8" No-Go Nipple. This bottom hole assembly will be in horizontal; so a need was to get the restriction out by pressure as other mechanical way (Slickline) of knocking out the restriction wouldn't be possible. Upon research no such tool with this small outside diameter (1-11/16") was available with different rating for holding burst pressure (from surface down) and back pressure (wellbore reservoir pressure). Hence created a three piece (top sub, middle body, and bottom sub) tool that houses dual rupture disk with different orientations with predetermined pressure shearing value. The prime utilization of this tool will be to create a barrier when deploying velocity string in well. This tool isolates the wellbore reservoir from the upper and lower wellbore. This tool utilizes two dome-shaped disks to isolate wellbore reservoir pressure in a variety of downhole conditions. Sketch attached. Novelties: 1. Two Rupture Disks installed in different orientation with different ratings. 2. Rupture Disks are held/secured by screwing two subs together. Recess is provided on top and bottom sub. With conventional threaded type rupture disks it will not be possible to install in different orientation (facing opposite to each other) in a single middle body. 3. Isolates upper and lower wellbore. 4. Pressure up to knock out the restriction as this tool will be in horizontal which does not allow slickline to go and shear.
