Abstract

Ability to selectively produce or inject into multiple intervals or multi-lateral legs while maintaining control is desired. The proposed method allows for two or more intervals/legs within a single wellbore to be completed. The features include a parallel flow device and flow control valves run into several types of completions, barefoot, sand control or multi-lateral leg. The flow paths are directed through the flow control valves by a packer that isolates the annulus. The flow control valves can be operated mechanically, hydraulically and or electrically. The valves can be adjustable to vary the flow conditions as required.

Abstract

Description of the Invention

When one or more intervals/zones in a producing or injector well is required to be completed and functioned independently, this requires the use of one or more completions strings. This invention allows the wells to be completed and functioned independently of one another through a single path that splits within the well (see

diagram attached). The flow control valves function to control the flow into or out of the well. The intervals are split equally into two functioning zones of control even though any number of intervals can be present.
