Abstract

Methods, systems, and media for messaging targeted users are provided. In some embodiments, a method for messaging targeted users is provided, the method comprising: identifying, using a hardware processor, a plurality of users that interact with content associated with a content publisher; determining an interaction score for each of the plurality of users, wherein the interaction score indicates a level of interaction by a user with the content associated with the content publisher; identifying a subset of the plurality of users based at least in part on the interaction scores; receiving an indication from the content publisher to send a message to the subset of the plurality of users inviting the subset of the plurality of users to connect to the content publisher on a social networking service; and causing a message to be sent to the subset of the plurality of users, wherein the message prompts the subset of the plurality of users to connect to the content publisher on the social networking service.

Technical Field

The disclosed subject matter relates to methods, systems, and media for messaging targeted users.

     A content publisher, such as a user of a video sharing service, may be interested in reaching out to users that are likely to interact with content associated with the content publisher (e.g., a video posted by the content publisher). For example, the content publisher may want to interact with users that have consumed videos posted by the content publisher or that have interacted with other content associated with the content publisher. The content publisher may interact with such users by, for example, sending messages to the users, sharing content with the users, etc. However, conventional approaches for interacting with a particular user may require the content publisher to be connected to the user on a social networking service. That is, the content publisher may not be able to interact with a user that is not already a social connection of the content publisher, even if the user has interacted with the content publisher's content and may be highly interested in receiving messages, shared content, notifications, etc., from the content publisher.

Accordingly, it is desirable to provide new mechanisms for messaging targeted users.

Summary

     Methods, systems, and media for messaging targeted users are provided. In some embodiments, a method for messaging targeted users is provided, the method comprising: identifying, using a hardware processor, a plurality of users that interact with content associated with a content publisher; determining an interaction score for each of the plurality of users, wherein the interaction score indicates a level of interaction by a user with the content associated with the content publisher; identifying a subset of the plurality of users based at least in part on the interaction scores; receiving an indication from the content publisher to send a message to the subset of the plurality of users inviting the subset of the plurality of users to connect to the content publisher on a social networking service; and causing a message to be sent to the subset of the plurality of users, wherein the message prompts the subset of the plurality of users to connect to the content publisher on the social networking service.
