Users know little about network access in their immediate area , including available bandwidth at a given location and time. Often the access on wireless networks at popular location or venue is very slow due to the high volume of users . A user cannot determine whether local wireless network can be faster than a cell phone network . Network access information can assist users to make decisions for making smart investments such as, but not limited to, deciding between upgrading to 4G service and paying for wireless access.

Disclosed is a method and system for providing adequate bandwidth for a user at a specific location by testing data access in a particular location to create a load profile . The method and system evaluates data needed by the user and tests user access to the data. The method and system ensures that the required access is provided to the user.

The method and system can designate a particular time and location of the user based on a calendar entry of the user. For example, the location can be a building. Thereafter, a desired requirement for data access such as, but not limited to, an access time can be set. Additionally, a specific test for network access can also be performed at the location. The method and system can designate one or more test machines to perform tests at the location. The test machines can be volunteers present at the location to lend machines. The test can be performed through a process running in the background. The test machines can also be permanently installed machines such as , but not limited to, routers. The tests are performed on the test machines to understand latency and bandwidth between the location and local storage cloud sites .

Further, the method and system reviews historical data of network access from previous events in comparison with the network access on normal days . Performance is predicted by comparing the review with the day and the time of the test . A ti...
