Disclosed is a method and system for displaying minimized chat notifications on a display screen of a user. The minimized chat notification is displayed on the display screen based on the eye the user's focus area of the user on the display screen.

In accordance with the method and system, a user working on an activity on a display screen may receive an instant messenger pop-up window containing chat notification on the display screen causing distraction to the user while working. The instant messenger pop-up window containing chat content may cover a major portion of the display screen as illustrated in Figure 1.

The method and system provides a minimized chat notification on the display screen of the user as illustrated in Figure 2.

The method and system includes mapping applications that are currently displayed on screen. The mapping of the applications includes identifying screen coordinates that may allow empty space to display chat notifications. The empty space may be determined based on one or more of, but not limited to, webpage structure and object recognition. Thereafter, focus area of the user on the display screen is identified. The focus area is identified by tracking eye movement of the user using an eye tracker.
