Abstract

1. ABSTRACT Rotation of vehicle components by means of longitudinal movement. The removal/installation equipment is installed on the upper roof structure of a vehicle and on the vehicle component to be removed/installed (see Fig. 1). The equipment provides means of different stages of movement (see Fig. 2). - Longitudinal movement (set of four carriages) - Lifting lowering (drum with ropes, worm-gear) - Rotation around longitudinal axis (theoretical axis of center of gravity) Fig. 3 shows the main roll-mechanism (other functions are not shown in this principle). The aim is to rotate the vehicle component around the center of gravity (CoG) axis in a controlled manner at every stage of operation with only one mechanism. Starting position: The suspension point is above the CoG and the component is equally balanced and stable. Roll maneuver (see red oval in Fig. 3): By moving the position of the geometrical suspension point along a threaded bar (supported by turning a hand wheel), the CoG tends to remain under the suspension point. This results in rotation of the vehicle component.
