Abstract

Present disclosure related to various methods to avoid tampering in vehicle’s hour meter. This disclosure has proposed three methods to avoid tampering in hour meter. In all three cases the hour meter is entirely enclosed and attached to engine. Three methods are mentioned below, 1) By using opto-coupler embedded in engine for RPM measurement 2) By using proximity sensor for engine RPM measurement 3) By using piezoelectric crystal for engine RPM measurement Many times it has found that operator tamper hour meter and hence it has become difficult to estimate working hours of vehicle. Operator does such malpractice in order to claim warrantee for extended period and use without any genuine reasons. To cope with this problem, this disclosure has proposed three various solutions primarily based on use of different sensors to measure engine RPM.

This disclosure is about various tamper proof mechanisms for hour meter in vehicle. Below three mechanisms explained in details


1) 1.A By using opto coupler embedded in engine for RPM measurement

In this mechanism, opto coupler is embedded to count RPM or engine hours. As shown in fig.1, engine and opto coupler is attached to each other. Opto coupler takes power from engine directly. Power is generated by using simple principle of electromagnetic field, whenever there is change in magnetic field related to coil, emf is generated in coil. This emf is transferred to opto coupler. This opto coupler is used for counting engine RPM.

As in fig 1.B by using modified alternator design to power the hour meter. There are two different coils in vicinity of the magnet. When engine is running, power coil will power up the rechargeable battery which is embedded in the hour meter. The signal coil will send signal to hour meter in form of positive (unidirectional) voltage spike.
