Abstract

A system and method is disclosed for detecting mental impairment of a user using a mobile device with high accuracy. The system analyzes abnormal gait, rapid motion, Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels, body temperature, and voice pattern of the user using a plurality of sensors present in the mobile device. The plurality of sensors may include, but not limited to, accelerometer, shock sensors, Global Positioning System (GPS), body temperature sensors, Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) level sensors, and microphone.

Disclosed is a system and method for detecting mental impairment of a user using a mobile device with high accuracy. The system analyzes abnormal gait, rapid motion, Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels, body temperature, and voice pattern of the user using a plurality of sensors present in the mobile device. The plurality of sensors may include, but not limited to, accelerometer, shock sensors, Global Positioning System (GPS), body temperature sensors, BAC level sensors, and microphone.

In an exemplary instance, the system and method detects mental impairment of a user in influence of a substance. The substance may be, but not limited to, alcohol, or any drug, for example, Amphetamines, MDMA (ecstasy), Cocaine, Cannabis (marijuana), and Phencyclidine (PCP) that causes temporary mental impairment on consumption .

The system considers a plurality of factors for determining mental impairment. The plurality of factors may include, but not limited to, gait, movement, motion, BAC, heat, and voice pattern. Accordingly, the mobile device detects a set of inputs representing values for the plurality of factors using the plurality of sensors .

For example, a gait input is detected by the mobile device using a gait sensor. The gait sensor monitors a change in kinetic movement from regular movements to irregular movements of the mobile device. Such irregular movements may indicate an erratic behavior of the user.

Similarly, a shock impact signal detected by the mobile device using a shock sensor is used to monitor a shock impact associated with the mobile device. A BAC level is determined based on an input detected from a touch sens...
