The unique identifier of a cell phone can be read and cross referenced against a list of persons. The person linked to the cell phone identity can then be used in the query of a criminal database, and if necessary, the officer is alerted that caution is advised. To increase officer safety and situational awareness, cell phone identities are input into a criminal database search. The system notifies the officer if additional caution should be used when approaching vehicles or buildings.

Often a police officer approaches a building and does not know who, or how many occupants are in the structure. A police officer very much wants to know if a building they are about to enter is know to contain violent or dangerous individuals.
