The invention provides a utilization of a multilateral component, which begin as two or more unique section to weld a cathode cup in an x-ray tube. The multilateral component comprises a non-weldable and weldable material section. A specific example includes a cathode cup whose top surface is composed of titanium zirconium molybdenum (TZM). Underside of TZM composed of a nickel (Ni) alloy.

FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to an X-ray tube and more particularly to a weldable cathode cup for the X-ray tube.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A cathode in an X-ray tube requires utilization of a refractory material, which is not readily weldable. The non-weldable refractory material is joined to other materials by expensive braze technique which requires long cycle time.

A conventional technique includes a weldable metal utilized to fabricate cathode cup in the X-ray tube. However, the conventional technique limits the cathode cup to properties of low temperature weldable material. 

Another conventional technique includes welded corona shield around the cathode. However, the conventional technique does not include weld in the cathode cup.

Hence there exists a need for an efficient technique to weld the cathode cup in the x-ray tube.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention provides utilization of a multilateral component, which begin as two or more unique section to weld a cathode cup in an x-ray tube. The multilateral component includes a non-weldable and weldable material section.
