Detection Method of Untended VGA Internal Connectivity

Disclosed is a method for detection of untended video graphics array (VGA) internal connectivity.

Modern manufacturing facilities may produce many different types of goods from small items to large multi-rack enterprise services. Some of these products are individually tested and others are tested together simultaneously. These products have variable sizes, variable test cycle times, and exit manufacturing as individual items or as groups. There may be many different test tools, cables, etc… that are used during the manufacturing test processes.

Attended test steps and using external test peripherals can lead to a long and expensive test cycle time. Minimizing test cycle time, introduce flexibility, and reduce cost without impacting product quality are goals. Although the disclosed method can be expanded to cover other system peripherals, an example is shown utilizing a VGA signal test.

Standard manufacturing test systems and methods have many drawbacks :

Use monitors to test VGA signal. This method is inflexible, expensive and requires attended operator.

Pocket devices (i.e. uses LED's to simulate monitors). Although this introduces a lower cost than a normal monitor, it still drives high manufacturing cost driven by the requirement of attended individuals present at the time of testing to check the LED signals.

Some manufacturing site opt to test this signal during card test which impacts quality standards going out to the customer.

Without timely, high quality, low cost and flexible VGA test method, the manufacturer finds themselves running...
