Intelligent Water Temperature Based on User or Location Request

A single hot water heater may provide hot water to several locations in a home or complex. At present, the maximal temperature of the water is typically controlled by the thermostat of the water heater.

The problem is that different maximum water temperatures may be desirable, depending on the destination of the hot water (e.g., a particular tap) or the needs of the user requesting the hot water. For example, in the instance of a child's bathtub or bathroom sink, it may be desirable to limit the maximum temperature of the water to a degree that is not capable of scalding a child. Moreover, an appliance or showerhead may benefit from a higher maximal temperature.

Intelligent thermostats are known solutions for being able to dynamically adjust the thermostat temperature setting over wireless or wired communications links [*]; however, a given temperature setting at present has no immediate regard for real time consideration of the water requestor preferences and tap destinations. In other words, the intelligent thermostat can adjust and fix the water temperature for the entire house or complex, but it does not consider whose hands are under the faucet or even which faucet is requesting water in real time.
