Abstract

A method for uninterrupted and restart-free intrusion prevention wherein the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) subsystem is updated part-by-part and a firewall is utilized to block any new inbound or outbound connections. When one component is updated, connection state data is saved in another component; once both components are updated, the same data is retrieved back, thus enabling the offering of IPS to the currently active connections and all new connections coming in and out.
