Background

[0001]          Multiple objects can occupy approximately the same location in space or an object can have a number of different parts that are co-located in space.  For example, multiple seismic surveys may be acquired over the same area or an Earth model may contain multiple volumes representing distributions of compressional velocity, shear velocity, density, or other properties within the Earth.

[0002]      When a user interacts with computer software, the user may seek information about an object at a specific spatial location. Computer software packages may include a feature to query and report a single object property value at the specified location. This can be done by graphically pointing and clicking on an image of the object at the desired location.  For example, the user may point and click on an image of a seismic survey displayed on a computer screen to query and report the value of the seismic amplitude at the pointed location, as depicted in Figure 1.
