Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for mapping and displaying multiple photos of an event uploaded by unrelated set of people based on Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) data such as, but not limited to, location and capture time.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for correlating multiple different photos uploaded by unrelated set of people from a same event based on EXIF data.

In accordance with the method and system, as shown in the figure 1, a diverse set of photos uploaded by different people can be classified into multiple buckets based on EXIF data like location, capture time, etc.

The photos captured around the same time on nearby locations are grouped into the same bucket.  Then, a set of labels based on various automatic photo tagging techniques is identified for each bucket.


The method and system enables users to access similar photos uploaded by other users on one or more social networking sites.

As shown in figure 2, when a user A visits a social networking site for accessing photos (from an event) associated with a bucket, the system dynamically shows multiple photos from the same bucket as uploaded by other users while maintaining the user’s privacy settings.
