Disclosed is a method and system for ranking and assisting a user to view different sections of a large image.

In any large image, different co-located images are collected and stitched together and accordingly a grater view of the area is created. At the same time, a large image can also be created without using stitching. Figure 1 depicts a multi stitched image. In this case, different small size images are stitched together and a larger image is created.

In any larger images, there are some places which are very attractive, interesting etc and also some places which are not such attractive or interesting. So, while viewing such large image, there should be a method of showing the sections which are very important, attractive etc. This helps the user to focus attention on such sections of the image while viewing a large image.

The disclosed method ranks image sections of a big image, so that user can look at the important portion of the image. This importance can be done based on the user profile. For one user, important section may be a flower, and for another user an important section may be a sculpture. In a Big image, it may be difficult to identify the important object/portion.
