Online and mobile shopping continues to gain popularity and the need for brick-and-mortar stores is continually decreasing. Specifically, the area of clothing shopping has been increasing, but can use some improvement. One of the drawbacks to shopping for clothing online, especially in the area of women's garments and shoes, is the inability to try on the items without visiting the physical store. This often results in receiving an item that does not fit or match particular accessory selections. This causes the customer to return the item and waste valuable time and money in the process.

The novel contribution is a method that allows the user to try on and purchase clothing via an online-mobile virtual fit shop process that uses photographic imaging and big data analytics to determine the exact fit and appearance of an item on an individual.

Using a smart phone or digital camera, the user takes a picture of themselves. The user then uploads the image to the application. The application performs analytics on the image and determines the person's measurements and exact fit specifications.
