Method and System for Establishing Temporal Acquaintances within Social Networks based on Common and Event Driven Life Experiences

Disclosed is a method and system for establishing temporal acquaintances within social networks based on common and event driven life experiences.

Figure 1 illustrates a block diagram of the system disclosed herein.

Figure1

As illustrated, the system includes a sniffer component, a common experience matching (CEM) component, a relationship manager component and a security manager component. The sniffer component complies with user profile settings and security policies. Further, the sniffer component monitors user status and life event updates for identifying experience entries. Thereafter, the sniffer component feeds the experience entries to the CEM component. The CEM component matches the experience entries across multiple user profiles and suggests matches in accordance with the user profile settings and security policies. Thereafter, the CEM initiates a stranger mode and passes the relational context to the relationship manager component. The relationship

manager component maintains experience based relationship context. Further, the relationship manager component manages and implements transitions between relationship modes i.e., stranger to acquaintance and suggests the transitions to the user. The security manager component maintains user profile security context and communicates and enforces security policies on other functional components such as, the sniffer component, the CEM component and/or the relationship manager component.

Figure 2 illustrates a state diagram that depicts different modes supported by the method and system disclosed herein.

As illustrated in Figure 2, the method and system supports various modes like the stranger mode, the acquaintance mode, a friend mode, an inactive acquaintance mode and a purged acquaintance mode. In the stranger mode a limited amount of personal information is exchanged between users. Further, after receiving mutual agreement from both users, the method and system proceeds to an acquaintance mode. Further, the relationship is created with an expiry time period. During the acquaintance mode the expectancy period of the life experience is monitored and when nearing expiration, the users are prompted to decide whether to break or maintain the relationship. If the
