A Method and System for Targeting Advertisements using Metadata Extracted from User Content

Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for targeting advertisements using metadata extracted from content associated with a user such as, a video, an audio, and an image.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for targeting advertisements using metadata extracted from content associated with a user.  The content associated with the user can be, but is not limited to, a video, an audio and, an image.

The method and system includes selecting and preprocessing content associated with the user.  For instance, the image can be preprocessed for identifying a clickable grid.

Thereafter, the method and system transforms the content associated with the user into an appropriate format for subsequent data mining.  For example, the image can be transformed by making the image filterable by text metadata appearing in the image.  In a similar example, the image can be transformed by making the image filterable by object metadata appearing in the image.

The method and system subsequently performs data mining on the transformed content for extracting metadata.  For instance, the image can be filtered for extracting all objects appearing in the image.  Similarly, the image can be filtered for extracting all text content appearing in the image.

Thereafter, the method and system analyzes the extracted metadata for identifying useful metadata.  Analysis of the extracted metadata can include one or more of, analyzing audio metadata, text metadata, and object metadata.  In an example, useful audio metadata identified by analyzing the extracted metadata includes “Pizzeria A”, “...
