Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for providing on-the-fly personalized digital content to mobile device users having intermittent connectivity to the network.  The method and system disclosed herein stores a large subset of digital content such as, but not limited to, news, music and video on the mobile device based on user interests and presents the content to the user based on user selection.

Description

Usually, digital content such as, but not limited to, news, music and video is stored on servers of the service provider.  A user can select the digital content to be viewed on the mobile device having network connectivity.  Further, a personalization system can be used to pull new content on-the-fly based on user's preferences and behavior, and present it to the user in a seamless manner.  However, the user may be unable to view digital content in locations where there is no network connectivity.

Disclosed is a method and system for providing on-the-fly personalized digital content to mobile device users having intermittent connectivity to the network.

The method and system disclosed herein selects a large sub-set of digital content from all available content stored on servers of the service provider.  The method and system selects the large sub-set of digital content based on regular knowledge of the user's preferences, such as, but not limited to, profile, demographics, and earlier browsing behavior.  The method and system disclosed herein ensures that the volume of selected content is many times larger than the expected content that the user is likely to utilize.

Thereafter, whenever the user utilizes the digital content, new content is continuously selected and presented to the user in response to the user's actions.  This provides an illusion of on-the-fly presentation of conte...
