Auto radio music search

Disclosed is a method for automatically searching for music by scanning for music on a list of radio stations and switching based an absence of music on the currently tuned station.

Radio stations contain lots of advertisements and talk. Many listeners would rather only listen to the music, much like digital video recorder (DVR) users may skip commercials. Today there is no easy way to do this other than manual station changing. Disclosed is a method by which a radio tuner (FM, AM, Satellite, or other source such as internet based streams) detects whether or not music is playing. If Music is playing, nothing changes. However, if a lack of music is detected (DJ talk, commercial, etc) then the tuner automatically switch to another station which has been set in a list of pre-sets specific to this function. This allows for an unlimited number of pre-sets in general, but can use one or more subsets of this list for the purpose of auto cycling.

Invention flow:
1. User creates one or more lists of station presets to be used by Auto Search.

2. User selects a preset list and puts radio in Auto Search mode.

3. Radio analyses first station in list, if music is playing, radio remains tuned to that station
4. Radio detects music no longer playing on station and switches station to next in the list

The amount of time that no music is playing before station switch could be customizable.

5. Loop back to 4.

The disclosed method could also allow for presets...
