A Method and System for Filtering Hashtags Based on Context and Relevance

Disclosed is a method and system for filtering hashtags based on context and relevance to avoid groupings based on duplicate hashtags that are not relevant to the current context. Here, the system identifies duplication and dynamically or manually filters the hashtag based on the context of the post.

FIG. 1 illustrates a block diagram of a system used for filtering hashtags based on context and relevance.

As shown in FIG. 1, a hashtag used to post a comment or start discussion over a social network is processed to compare with earlier hashtags stored in hashtag repository and social network. Subsequently, the hashtags are processed to group duplicate hashtags which may include but not limited to technology discussions group, political discussions group, beauty product discussion group and the like based on context of the post and the social network.

FIG. 2 illustrates the method steps of filtering hashtags based on context and relevance.
