The invention provides a technique to load and switch virtual machines (VMs) in single console architecture for a single photon emission computer tomography (SPEC-CT) system. The technique includes two VMs to load, switch and run the nuclear medicine (NM) and computer tomography (CT) application software. One VM runs CT application SW and another runs NM SW. FIELD OF INVENTION

The invention generally relates to a single photon emission computer tomography (SPEC-CT) system and more particularly to single console architecture for the SPEC-CT system.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A SPEC-CT system includes separate console for nuclear magnetic (NM) and computed tomography (CT) systems. Separate console requires separate software (SW) to function.

A conventional technique includes a tandem software based on standalone NM and CT system and has two separate consoles for the NM and CT respectively.

Another conventional technique includes software which utilizes single console by adding CT function to the same software as the NM.


However, the conventional techniques increase product expense, footprint and hardware complexity.

Hence there exists a need for an efficient technique to manage expense, reduce footprint and hardware complexity of the SPEC-CT system.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention provides a technique to load and switch virtual machines (VMs) in single console architecture for a single photon emission computer tomography (SPEC-CT) system. The technique includes two VMs to load, switch and run the nuclear medicine (NM) and computer tomography (CT) application software. The technique also includes a loader program on host software responsible for loading and switching the VM.

The technique includes two VMs to load, switch and run the nuclear medicine (NM) and computer tomography (CT) application software. One VM runs CT application SW and another run NM SW.
