method for clarifying unstructured business text by identifying items and relationships between them

Enterprises produce large amounts of free text (in the form of documents, emails etc.)

which refer to enterprise assets such as, tools, processes, data sources, policies, rules and stewards
Because of the large amount of assets in the enterprise it is hard to understand the meaning of the text since the reader will not be familiar with all the assets referred to. Consider a report developer that receives the following email:

Hi Jon

Can you please prepare a report that shows orders correlated to geographic regions. The report must be validated by the offshore quality team and will then be submitted to the federal board for state fiscal monitoring. The error tolerance must be less than 1% and the data preparation process must include data standardization and data monitoring. ThxGeorge Smith
If the reader of this email is not familiar with all the terms and assets referred to he will not understand what he needs to do.

Our solution aims to assist the reader in understanding the meaning of such texts that are encountered in a work environment.

"Enterprise-wide information management system WO 2008134203 A1" provides methods for increasing the findability of content through consistent metadata generation of information objects maintained in heterogeneous data store but doesn't provide a system for identifying, analyzing and presenting relations between assets appearing in
a free text or maintain a metadata repository for that cause.

"Text analysis system WO 2013098701 A1" is a text analysis system that strives to provide a deeper understanding of a free text by using an explicit input that relates to the representation of some semantics. However, it doesn't provide a method for recognizing and analyzing relations between assets that appear in a free text, using a metadata repository.

"Conceptual world representation, natural language understanding system and method US7493253" discloses a system and a method for indexing free text documents using both language dependent terms and a language independent formal ontology of concepts to extract the deep meaning in free text documents but it provides no metadata repository based method for finding and presenting relations between assets that are mentioned in a free text.

We describe a method for clarifying unstructured business text (text containing assets names, terms, rules, policies etc.) by identifying items and the relationships between them. The method uses a metadata repository to provide information about the terms, assets and their relationships.

The assets and their relationships are shown to the user; this enables the user to understand the context and meaning of the business text. See the screenshot
