Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for blending an advertisement with a picture for monetization.  The picture is tagged with a metadata that is used by a photo sharing application to identify an advertiser.  After identifying the advertiser, the method and system obtains the advertisement and feeds the advertisement to the photo sharing application for blending with the picture.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for blending an advertisement with a picture for monetization.  The advertisement is related to one or more of, but not limited to, nearby historical places, restaurants and hotels.  The advertisement is added by an advertiser such that the advertisement appropriately matches with the picture.

Fig. 1 illustrates a picture that is uploaded using a photo sharing application by a user, wherein an advertisement is blended with background of the picture.

Additionally, the uploaded picture is tagged with a metadata by the user.  The metadata may be one or more of, but not limited to, location of the uploaded picture, date and time when the picture was taken and name of individuals in the picture.  For example, the metadata of the picture as illustrated in Fig. 1 may be Golden Gate Bridge.  Thereafter, the photo sharing application utilizes the metadata to communicate with an advertiser of an advertisement that may be related to the picture.  The method and system enables the photo sharing application to blend the advertisement and the picture for display.  As illustrated in Fig. 1, the advertiser may be a bike company situated in an area in the vicinity of the Golden Gate Bridge.
