Abstract

This disclosure proposes a novel pane to unlock screen based on the stroke order of certain Chinese characters. In the first place, user is asked to set the stroke order for certain Chinese characters they choose. Then instead of popping blank screen to get input, the pane is filled up with the shadow of the chosen characters. When the pane is created, users have to fill up the shadows of the characters in the exact order they set up to unlock the phone.

Privacy, personal data become more and more vulnerable in our modern technology world. Indeed we use more and more devices, such as cellphone in public places to connect to and manage our data.

The existing solution proposed, for example, to draw specific patterns (Fig.1) in joining points in a nine points pane to unlock cellphone is not very safe. Complex patterns are hard to describe on the point pane and extremely difficult for users to remember. Thus users pick this method to unlock more for fun than security.

As we well know, Chinese character is one of the most complicated characters in the world and many characters in Chinese consist of a number of strokes. If we shuffle the stroke order for certain characters, we could create our own identification which is different from others. And as the combination of stroke orders for characters is a large set, it's much securer to unlock screen than drawing simple patterns on a pane.

However, simply presenting user a blank screen to input the character is hard and inefficient to track the stroke order user is going to write as user could write the character in any place, any size and any style they like on a blank screen. We need an innovative way to address this issue.

This disclosure proposes a novel pane to unlock screen based on the stroke order of certain Chinese characters. In the first place, user is asked to set the stroke order for certain Chinese characters they choose. Then instead of popping blank screen to get input, the pane is filled up with the shadow of the chosen characters like Fig.2. When the pane is created, users have to fill up the shadows of the characters in the exact order they set up to unlock the phone.

3.1) Processes to set up the Unlock Key

When the user select our method to unlock the device, we guide the user through the following processes (Fig. 3):


a) The user needs to choose certain characters to create the Unlock pane.

b) When the characters are chosen, they will be displayed in the pane as a shadow character (Fig. 8).
c) Then the user starts to create the Unlock Key in writing each stroke.

=> The user can write the stokes in any order. No need to respect the correct Chinese stroke order for the

character (Fig. 4).

=> The user could create the Unlock Key with missing strokes for the character (Fig. 5). => The user could join several stokes to create a new single stoke (Fig. 6).

d) We record the position and the order of each stroke until the user validates (f) his Unlock Key.

                e) The user could validate the Unlock Key multiple times to make it valid as the Unlock Key. In this disclosure, we take twice as the example.

                f) When the user validates the key the first time, we record the first Unlock Key (KeyA). Then the user restarts the second time from (b) to confirm the Unlock Key.
