Abstract

Often we get an email and we reply to all, but it’s not only one person who replies to all but anybody in that mail chain can reply to all at the same time and we will miss any one's important mail communication because the next time anybody replies he/she will pick up any one mail which was either sent by you or the other person and in any case one important piece of communication gets missed.

Locking email when 'Reply to All'

Problem:

Often we get an email and we reply to all, but it's not only one person who replies to all but anybody in that mail chain can reply to all at the same time and we will miss any one's important mail communication because the next time anybody replies he/she will pick up any one mail which was either sent by you or the other person and in any case one important piece of communication gets missed.

Known Solution:

There are no known solution up to my knowledge. I have never seen in any of email client or email web application.

Drawbacks of the known Solution or why is an addition solution required:

There are no Known Solution. This solution is required to make sure that no email gets missed.

Relevant reference:

This is not related to my article in anyway but this is on the same line, for eg, the approach of my article talks about how we can prevent missing email communication when we reply to all.

Google(gmail) has a patent on when we write email it scans and see if we have written text like attachment and we did not attach any document actually, in such case a pop message comes saying that you did not attach anything. I thought of sharing this because my approach is on improvising email application only, so it might help.

Core Summary:

The core principal of the approach is whenever we detect a "reply to all" command we will lock that email and at the same time if some other person in that mail chain also tries to "reply to all" to that email will get a warning message that this person is already "replying to all" to this email, if you try to send it then your email communication may be missed, You still want to send the email. So we are not blocking any person from sending the mail rather we are only warning them.

Advantage

By this approach no email will be missed or at least the user will get a warning that this email may be missed if you send it while some other person is also replaying to all that email at the same time.

Description:

Here is the detailed description of the approach:
Whenever a User clicks on 'Reply to All' that email gets locked and that person will acquire the lock and he will get a chance to write that mail. If other person is also 'Reply to All' on that mail at the same time, he/she will get a pop up saying that this person (who has acquired the lock) is already writing a mail and the mail is locked, do you want to send it anyway? (We are not completely blocking other persons to send mail rather we are just giving a
