Abstract

There are many scenarios in our daily life that we need to input a password on a pubic system like mobile, POS machine or ATM. The key board is fixed and public, while the people's password is very private. Exhibiting a private password on a public and fixed key board has security issues. This article introduces a system and method that make the password exhibit and password input private to avoid the password being peeped based on audio equipment.

Background:

Today, we have many places need to input a password for unlock machines or get access to a system, like mobile, POS machine or ATM of bank. Usually a fixed key board, which lays out all the password candidate characters, is provided for people to select. People select certain password candidate characters in certain order as the input of their passwords. The key board is fixed and public, while the people's password is very private. Exhibiting a private password on a public and fixed key board has security issues. The main pain point is the private password is very easily be detected by people around you. And people who with eyes disability is not able to use this kind of machine to input password.

1. Put one of the hand above the password keyboard, and then use another hand to input the password. By doing this way, the drawbacks are:
1) Two hands are occupied; 2) People around the user can detect the password by input direction since the numbers layout is fixed; 3) It is not easier for user himself/herself to see the keyboard layout as well. 4)People with eyes disability is not able to use it.


2. Implement a cover on the keyboard like picture below. By doing this way, the drawbacks are: 1) Additional material for the cover; 2) People around the user can detect the password by input direction since the numbers layout is fixed; 3) It is not easier for user himself/herself to see the keyboard layout as well. 4)People with eyes disability is not able to use it.


3. Based on solution 2, add braille on the top of each key below. User need to touch the braille on each key then click the relative keys. Except the 2 drawbacks of solution 1) Additional material for the cover; 2) People around the user can detect the password by input direction since the numbers layout is fixed; 3) It is not easier for user himself/herself to see the keyboard layout as well. 4) People with eyes disability is easy to input wrong key as he/she needs to touch all the keys then identify the relative keys.

Main Idea

Main Idea: :

The main idea of this invention is to use an audio equipment for password exhibit instead of a fixed key board.

1. The system provides a back-end service and an audio equipment.

2. The back end service plays the sound of each password candidate in fixed order to the audio equipment rotatively.

3. User wears the audio equipment and identify the password candidate character via a voice that is only available to him /her.
4. User select the related password candidate character via clicking a Yes or something like that button.

5. The back end service receives the user's selection.

6. The back end service continues to play the password candidate to the audio equipment.
