Abstract

The invention proposes a technique to provide data acquisition interfaces for remotely monitoring performance data. The technique allows automated collection of performance data from display of a machining tool. The technique includes a process of capturing images directly from human machine interface (HMI) display of the machining tools. The process utilizes optical character recognition (OCR) technique to extract desired performance monitoring parameters as text from a captured screenshot.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

            Graphical user interface and human-machine interface (HMI) on machine tools are rapidly improving machine productivity and operator efficiency. For collection of performance data from a machining tool there is no provision for data acquisition. There are many numerical controllers known in the art, however, those do not provide data acquisition interface for remote monitoring or software analytics.

            A conventional technique includes scrapping information from a web page or any other page of electronic content.

            Another conventional technique includes utilization of OCR for analyzing and understanding application screens.

            However, the conventional techniques do not provide data acquisition interface for remote monitoring.

Therefore, there is a need for a technique to provide remote monitoring or software analytics of the HMI display of the machining tool.
