A method and system for transforming comment- based activity in a public forum to a private conversation between users via chat is disclosed.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for transforming comment- based activity in a public forum to a private conversation between users via chat.  

Typically, in media based public forums, users may comment on an article in a comments section. In certain scenarios, some comments may resonate with users prompting the user to reply to those specific comments.  In an exemplary illustration, a user A may respond to a user B’s comment and subsequently continue the conversation.  However, such a conversation is asynchronous, mediated by the commenting platform, and visible to all.  Therefore, there is a need for a method and system wherein interested parties can have a private, interactive and meaningful conversation. 

In accordance with the method and system disclosed herein, the concerned users are prompted about whether they would like to have a private conversation and are enabled to continue their discussion in a synchronous and private manner via a real-time chat, if they prefer to do so.
