Mobile device users capture photographs, video clips, write comments, and then share that information in the public domain in real time. Multiple users might capture the same event using different methods (e.g., photographs, videos, etc.) and posted comments while witnessing the event. In addition, multiple events can occur in a single location, and different users can share that the content in public domain.

A method is needed to capture and analyze the user's location information and shared content in order to provide the user with further information relevant to the current location and context.

The novel contribution is a method and system to capture and analyze the input and location information to identify the context of the user. Based on the identified context,
a third party can deliver information, such as advertisements or refined search results, to the user. The user can define an area range (i.e. area boundary) in an electronic map and a time range (e.g. last 30 minutes); accordingly, the system gathers the user generated contents based on the defined parameters. The system then extracts information and identifies the context of the location for that time range in real time. The system then uses the identified context to provide relevant information to the user (e.g., advertisement, route recommendation, context based search results, etc.) This system can also operate based on an itinerary, to obtain future boundaries and times.
