System and Method to Assist With Directions or Guidance via Vibration

Using gentle vibrations as feedback to movements can train human brains to develop the ability to always find the direction of true north in a subconscious manner.[*] Eventually, the user's body adapts and tunes out the vibrations, giving the user a more instinctive and accurate sense of direction.

People in unfamiliar surroundings or people with compromised memory function have difficulties navigating certain environments. A method is needed to direct people around facilities and train familiarity in a subconscious manner such that it is not lost knowledge.

The novel and non-obvious system and method provide directions and regional familiarity using vibrations.

The components and process for implementing the system and method in a preferred embodiment follow:

1. Program a vibrating device identifier (ID) into a system (not novel)

2. When required or desired to have a wearer at a location, signal the device 3. The device may use triangulation from Wi-Fi or other means to triangulate the associated current position 4. A system may process the location of the device and give it a sequence of Service Set Identifiers (SSIDs), or other way points, to approach 5. The device may vibrate in a manner to lead the wearer in the direction until the next way point is reached, and begin to vibrate in a manner to lead the wearer further, to another way point 6. In this manner, wearers are guided to certain a...
