The relation between the movement of the mechanical arm of Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) and the change in vehicle position causes variation in the displayed gas level. Also, an alternative engagement of the external joints and fittings improves assembly.

Design description

The improvements are provided in a new device for the FDM with a smart fitting that improves the assembly and a flow cylinder magnet system and an improved fuel level detection.

• The smart fitting is designed with an internal joint

• A plastic flange is added and designed to support and control the clamping between the two sections of the joints

• The upper part of the joints is L-shaped. Construction is preferably plastic or could be made using another material with enforced shoulders to strengthen the stressed area at the corner of the elbow and make assembly simple

• The opposite side of the joint is a tapered channel directed inside and under the plastic flange

• The engagement of the fitting parts, can be pressed fillings or tidied by a other mechanism into the flange

The second part of this smart FDM is the device that determines the fuel level in the tank

• This device functions based on the concepts of buoyancy force and magnetic field
