Abstract

Techniques are presented for online meetings in which a Question Collector module collects text and audio questions, merges those questions, and combines the questions in the same region of each shared slide. A Question Map is also provided to help the presenter sort and review all questions for each of the slides in the presentation, or after the presentation (Q&A time). This allows the presenter to know the distribution of the questions in each slide. The presenter can select specific slides to answer questions, such as selecting the slide with the most questions.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Question and Answer (Q&A) sessions are important to have during meetings, even online meetings. A Q&A session helps presenter to clear up concerns that the meeting attendees may have. Currently, online meeting services/systems do not provide a convenient way to help a presenter collect and review questions and the presenter does not have enough time to answer each question. Moreover, the presenter does not know which slides of a presentation have triggered the most questions.

Presented herein is a method to automatically collect questions of each shared page/slide in an online meeting. See FIG. 1 below for example workflow diagram.

The workflow is as follows.

At 100: Attendee raises text or audio question in the location where he wants to locate on the shared page.

At 101: Meeting client merges question data in a "Question Collector" module.

At 102: Meeting client sends merged question data to meeting server.

At 103: Meeting server re-merges all received question data, saves it, and updates this sharing page with questions in the "Question Collector" module.

At 104: Meeting server sends updated sharing page to presenter and attendees' meeting client.

At 105: Meeting client displays updated sharing page with questions.

The new module called a "Question Collector" is provided to collect, save and merge questions. The "Question Collector" has three sub-modules: Collector, Calculator, and Cache. FIG. 2 below illustrates a functional diagram of the Question Collector module.

FIG. 2. Question Collector

The Question Collector is used to collect text and audio questions when an attendee raises questions for a shared page of a presentation. It collects question data that includes type, content, owner, and location.

Two methods to input the questions are provided. One method is to double click on the region to input the question for those who join the meeting from PC/laptop. Another method is pressing on the region to input the questions for those who join the meeting from a mobile device.

FIG. 3 below illustrates an example User Interface screen by which a user raises a text and audio question.
