Disclosed is a method and system for identifying fuel needs of a vehicle , soliciting and agreeing to an amount and prices of fuel with or without a driver's intervention .

The fuel needs of the vehicle are determined by factors such as , but not limited to, fuel tank size and range, oil change determined by a vehicle indicator, one or more brake pads/rotors and tire treads determined by sensors.

In one implementation, the method and system determines the fuel needs of the vehicle by calculating the Distance to Empty (DTE) range of the vehicle. The method and system calculates the DTE based on the vehicle's fuel tank capacity and the amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank. Based on the calculation, the method and system searches for one or more fuel stations along a travel route of the vehicle .

In an embodiment, the method and system includes the following phases /components for routing the vehicle to one or more fuel station locations such as a ) a vehicle system setup phase, b) a fuel station system setup phase, c) a driving phase, and d) a fuel station system.

In the vehicle system setup phase, the method and system enables a driver to set a threshold for determining a fuel level and allocating one or more fuel providers . The driver inputs factors such as, but not limited to, willingness of the driver to pay cash for the fuel, loyalty card information/program, how far off the route of travel the driver is

willing to go, fuel type needs (regular, premium, flex-fuel, diesel, etc), pump and pay only, enter a store to pay, self-service versus full service, lowest price for fuel, fuel with special additives. In addition, the method and system also permits the driver to identify an importance of the factors. For example, the method and system can suggest the driver to pay in cash or loyalty card.

In the fuel station system setup phase, the method and system enables a station owner to configure a profile of the fuel station . The station owner configures the profile based on factors such as, but not limited to, age of fuel in a fuel tank, lowest percentage of profit desired, minimum amount of fuel that needs to be purchased to offer a certain price, amount of fuel remaining in the fuel tank , loyalty cards and other incentives. The method and system, then, utilizes the profile configured by the station owner in the process of autonomous arbitration.

During the driving phase, the method and system monitors the fuel range of the vehicle . When the factors defined by the driver are met , the method and system triggers a look up for one or more fuel stations in accordance with the factors defined by the driver . The method and system performs the look up via at least one of a messaging service and broker service.
