Abstract

The discontinuous mechanical fasteners are attached on an absorbent article or its side wing parts, which may be vertically and/or horizontally stretchable, and are used for the fixation between the absorbent article and another surface such as a diaper outer cover or underwear.

Background

    Mechanical fasteners are widely used as a closing element of diaper closure systems. They are also useful for absorbent article such as sanitary napkins and pads. A sanitary napkin or pad typically includes a back sheet that is intended to be placed adjacent to the wearer's undergarment. The back sheet may comprise mechanical fastener to securely attach the sanitary napkin or pad to the undergarment, which mechanically engages with the fastening elements. In addition to such engagement properties, comfort properties such as softness and breathability are also required as sanitary napkins and pads.

Description

    Discontinuous mechanical fastener can be made by conventional methods such as slitting, slitting and expanding, and punching processes.
