System and Method for Product Photography Analytics

Users can often capture a photograph from each side of a subject, but it is more difficult to capture the subject from the middle position. Figure 1 illustrates the meaning of the two sides vs. the middle position.

Figure 1: The photograph was captured from Side A

A mechanism is needed that allows users to capture or generate a photograph from the middle position of the subject.

The solution is a novel method and system that use an electronic map to provide the user with more options for producing a photograph. A user defines the required direction for the photograph as a search requirement. (Figure 2) The system then identifies the target area and direction of input for the photograph region. Based on the target area and the direction of input for the photograph region, the invention searches the public domain for applicable photographs. The system analyzes the input of the existing photographs and then creates a by-product photograph for the required position.

If the system does not find an available match, then it analyzes the target area and direction of the input photographs in order to create a by-product photograph from the middle position. The target area zone depends on required photograph direction. Once the target area zone is identified, the system gathers all possible matching photographs
