Method for Displaying Hierarchy Pattern and Truncation

As a typical data cell has limited space, showing a hierarchy within that cell is a challenge; the total hierarchy consumes too much space and/or portions of the text or tree are cut off. Because it is not possible to see the whole hierarchy level, a user might be confused as to what the data is actually showing or have difficulty identifying the data pattern within it.

The novel solution is a method to automatically truncate and apply a visual representation (can be both color and pattern) to the higher level of the hierarchy in a data cell. Using this method, each parent level of the hierarchy is represented by an abbreviation or becomes truncated, and then each level is assigned a color palette. This allows a clear representation of the entire hierarchy and helps create a data pattern on the parent levels, which the users can easily identify.
