Abstract

This article presents a method to optimize network topology base on business coupling in PaaS Cloud which includes: -- Build a consistent global PaaS network topology in a control center -- Monitor network I/O in each VM and analyze the data flow of every application -- Collect all the analysis data, and build a Top-Down model of application business coupling -- Provide candidate target platforms for migration to reduce the unnecessary cost of network bandwidth in PaaS Cloud - Migrate the application to optimize the network topology

In a large PaaS Cloud, with more and more applications setup and integrated, the communication and collaboration among applications will be always increasing. The data stream among applications need to cross an indefinite number of network route, and the network load will increase rapidly due to lack of systemic management and configuration. This invention is mainly to solve two problems:


[1]Decrease unnecessary internal network bandwidth consumption, Reduce the probability of network congestion, even if the network congestion happened, it can effectively relieve congestion. And when the net storm and network segmentation have appeared, the system also can ensure the normal operation of business to the greatest extent.


[2]For cross-regional distribution data center, the system can greatly reduce the Computing and network resources consumption caused by long distance communication, and improve application response time, reduce the failure rate.

To make applications consume less network bandwidth in PaaS Cloud and improve the performance and network capacity of PaaS Cloud, this invention is comprising:


1. Maintain a consistent global PaaS network topology in a control center.

2. Monitor network I/O in each VM and analyze the data flow of every application.

3. Collect all the analysis data, and build a Top-Down model of application business coupling.

4. Based on the network topology and the business coupling information between applications, system will provide candidate target platforms for migration to reduce the unnecessary cost of network bandwidth in PaaS Cloud.

5. Migrate the application from source platform to target platform with the help of agent on virtual machine, and auto configure the application to make sure that outer user won't will the change of the service.
