Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for providing a promotion pattern through gaming in e-commerce.  The method and system applies features of gaming in an e-commerce platform thereby increasing motivation of consumers for online shopping.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for providing a promotion pattern through gaming in e-commerce.  The method and system combines an idea of Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) with shopping activities.  The method and system adds fun and excitement during a process of level completion for online shopping consumers by conducting several key features of gaming and applying the key features to an overall shopping flow.  The key features include, but are not limited to, roles, level, missions, and teamwork.

The method and system proposes a new idea for the promotion pattern.  A store owner first creates a theme and sets up a mission on an e-commerce platform.  Thereafter, the store owner selects some high correlation goods or complementary goods based on the mission.  The method and system enables the consumers to form teams to complete the mission by purchasing a complete list of items listed.  Here, as number of missions completed by a consumer increases, the level for the consumer increases.  The consumers at a higher level receive more incentives under the promotion pattern proposed by the method and system.  The promotion pattern increases buying motivation for the consumers and overall sales to achieve a profitable situation for the store owner, the consumers and a platform provider.

In a scenario, a platform content owner sets up the theme and the mission with a list of products that involves several stores to increase an overall buying mood of the consumers among stores.  For instance, the platform content owner creates the theme for a Moon festival and selects a list of products from different stores including, but not limited to, a barbecue grill, barbecue materials and camping tools.  Additionally, the platform content owner chooses products from a popular store and a start-up store to increase a demand for purchasing for the start-up store.

In another scenario, the store owner creates the theme for the store.  For example, the theme is either related to a holiday such as, but not limited to, Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year or to an event such as, but not limited to, marriage proposal and information technology exhibition.  After the creation of the theme, the store owner creates several missions composed of different list of products based on the theme, and then sets up the incentives or rewards for the mission.  Additionally, the store owner creates a secret mission wherein, the secret mission is composed of different list of products and incentives for the consumers to complete.  Here, the secret mission is not visible to public and can only be seen within a s...
