Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for targeting resolution in point-and-click user interfaces using voronoi cells. The method and system enables user interface of applications to be interactive and activate interactive components that are closest to a cursor. The method and system significantly reduces user’s time spent in dragging the cursor across the user interface in order to focus on specific interactive areas.

Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for targeting resolution in point-and-click user interfaces using voronoi cells.  The method and system enables user interface of applications to be interactive and activate interactive components that are closest to a cursor.  The method and system significantly reduces user’s time spent in dragging the cursor across the user interface in order to focus on specific interactive areas.

Description

For a large class of point-and-click applications such as native desktop applications and some websites are non-interactive except for a few areas where an user interface (UI) controllers such as, buttons, input boxes and sliders are placed.  The non-interactive interface leads to excess cursor movements and a significant amount of user time is spent in dragging the cursor across the user interface in order to reach specific interactive areas.

Disclosed is a method and system targeting resolution in point-and-click user interfaces using voronoi cells.  The method and system improves the point-and-click interface by making entire application area interactive, without changing the interactive component placement, layout, or size.
