Abstract

Techniques are presented herein for use in an online conference meeting, when a meeting Host wants to talk to another participant. If the target attendee is inattentive, the meeting system will automatically record the context of the current discussion topic (audio and video), and send a notification to the inattentive attendee via his/her computer or collaboration tools, or automatically call the inattentive attendee's mobile phone. In this way, the attendee can easily know who is talking to him/her, who talked to him after he/she returned and the context of the discussion topic. The meeting Host/Presenter can continue the meeting without interruption.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Online conference meetings are very popular today, but different than traditional meetings, the meeting Host and attendees are not face-to-face. Often, a meeting attendee will not be paying attention during at least part of the meeting.

For example, when the meeting Host says "Peter, do you have any suggestion on this idea? Hello, Peter, are you still there?". Unfortunately there is no response from Peter, because Peter is busy doing something else and not listening to the meeting audio. Furthermore, after Peter comes back, Peter still does not know that Host was speaking to him, and for what purpose.

As a premise for the techniques presented herein, the online meeting system has detected/identified an inattentive attendee. This detection may be made by camera,

computer keyboard events, computer mouse events, top window detection, audio analysis, computer lock detection, etc. The method is as follows.

1. Detect inattentive attendee

When attendee is inattentive, attendee's meeting client will automatically start detecting attendee's name via audio of meeting.

If a remote speaker mentioned the inattentive attendee's name, the system will automatically trigger a further process. This mechanism only takes effect when an attendee is inattentive in order to conserve computer/server resources. In most meetings, only few attendees are inattentive at any given period of time, so this trigger mechanism should not impact the normal meeting process. If all attendees are focusing on meeting content, there is no need audio detection. See FIG. 1 below for an example user interface for this step.

2. Actions once attendee's inattention is detected

2.1. Launch inattentive recording.

When the attendee is inattentive, the inattentive attendee's meeting client software will automatically start recording meeting data in a local cache.

Only when the attendee is inattentive will the meeting client software system trigger recording meeting data in a local cache. If the attendee is focusing on the meeting content, no recording will take pla...
