Publication Date: 2014-Sep-03
The IP.com Prior Art Database
The present invention proposes a technique to utilize step on a nacelle as a catwalk, which in turn changes the structure of the nacelle. The technique provides a new structure of the nacelle, which is simpler and efficiently manufactured. In order to simplify manufacturing of nacelle, the nacelle separates into several sections, such as, a modular nacelle. The technique is utilized to remove many features on the bedplate. Structure of the nacelle wall is redesigned to include the catwalk inside.
The present invention relates generally to a wind turbine system and more particularly to a nacelle structure of the wind turbine system.
A nacelle is a cover housing that houses all generating components in a wind turbine. The nacelle includes a generator, gearbox, drive train, and brake assembly. In the wind turbine, one of an ancillary hardware is a catwalk. Conventional design of the nacelle structure is relatively complicated which includes several sections of the catwalk. Several sections of the catwalk are mounted on to a bedplate. This requires mounting pads and platforms on the bedplate to support the catwalk. Further, extra bedplates are mounted to the nacelle to avoid environment health and safety (EHS) issues.
A conventional technique includes a structure with a nacelle and a catwalk, wherein the two are independent of each other. However, the conventional technique provides complicated structure of the nacelle.
It would be desirable to have an efficient technique to provide simple structure of the nacelle and the catwalk.
