Disclosed is a method and system for enhancing existing articles with interesting facts to satisfy a user’s need for facts and statistics.  A sponsored fact system allows advertisers to inject positive facts about a company or product that is displayed in the right context to enhance messaging.

Description

Disclosed is a method and system for enhancing existing articles with interesting facts to satisfy a user’s need for facts and statistics.  

The method and system derives facts from buckets of facts, such as, but not limited to, contextual facts, user facts and temporal facts.  Each article is enhanced with a pseudo random fact from the buckets.  

In a scenario, the random fact is a fact related to the article or a fact related to the user or a fact related to the user’s action at that moment.  

The method and system increases user engagement in a current context of user’s activity.  Further, the method and system provides freshness to old pages and articles by showing different facts every time the user visits a page.  For example, there are many articles on a trending event and a user revisits the articles regularly to see if there are any updates.  Here, the pseudo random facts increase the likelihood that fresh facts are provided to the user each time.
