Abstract

A method and system is disclosed for utilizing geo-location of an object for creating object metadata. The method and system utilizes the geo-location information of the object to retrieve social media content pertaining to the object for creating the object metadata. The method and system also enables a user to add user generated content created by one or more of the user and one or more people nearby as metadata for the object.

Disclosed is a method and system for utilizing geo-location of an object for creating object metadata. The method and system utilizes the geo-location information of the object to retrieve social media content pertaining to the object for creating the object metadata. The method and system also enables a user to add user generated content created by one or more of the user and one or more people nearby as metadata for the object.

In accordance with the method and system, once a user captures the photograph of the object from a long distance using the camera, the method and system calculates the focal length and distance of the captured object from a current location of the camera. The method and system accordingly calculates the field of view based on the lens equation as illustrated in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

The method and system utilizes the field of view information to determine a geo-location of the captured object. The geo-location is calculated by using geo-location information of the camera taking the picture and the distance of the captured object.

Thereafter, the method and system streams information related to the captured object from sources such as, but not limited to, social media sources and social networking sites based on the geo-location of the object. The information retrieved from the sources is stored as metadata associated with the photograph of the object.

The method and system also enables the user to create additional metadata to be associated with the photograph such as, but not limited to, real time spoken narration of people near the object and enlisting people located near the object. The method and system enables the user to create the real time spoken narration of people near the object by sending a request to one or more mobile devices near the object.
