Abstract

A new nonintrusive method for home load decomposition has been disclosed with 15min-interval power meter data and sample information of power appliance based on typical appliance expert database. With investigation of customers, the number and rated power of the typical electricity appliance are obtained. Furthermore, the possible results of load decomposition are provided by the fruit fly optimization algorithm. Finally, the multiple results are sorted according to the empirical knowledge, and the best load decomposition is determined. The method is easy to implement and most importantly with a low cost. No more equipment is needed to be installed, and only a previous investigation of the target customer is carried out.

Background

   Demand of electricity increases and the maximum power demand reach a new high level. By statistics, in last year, the power demand of Zhe Jiang Province was 50 million KW, which increased 18% yearly, maximum power shortage reached about 3.50 million KW.

   With the promotion policy of "Save energy, reduce emission", home load plays a significant role and home load decomposition becomes more and more important in the following aspects:

   1) It can help utility improve the efficiency of power system utilization and reduce the cost of power infrastructure by mastering the composition of the load and determining better TOU price


2) It can help utility to build load model and perform load forecasting with more accuracy


3) It can help consumers to reduce their energy bill by adjusting the usage behavior of electricity appliance

Current Solution and Problem

   Presently, there are two methods for load decomposition, including intrusive load decomposition and nonintrusive load decomposition. Intrusive load decomposition is performed by installing separate sensors in each of the existent loads in order to monitor their energy consumption in real time. However, this approach results in expensive sensor installation and intrusive monitoring for the inhabitant. The weakness of this method is high cost to implementation, low reliability, and hard to be accepted by customers.

Nonintrusive load decomposition is performed by monitoring the voltage, current and power signals at the home-entrance power meter, and

then from them to identify different load components consuming energy in the residence. This approach is cheaper, easy to install and to maintain, and is not intrusive for the inhabitants. So the nonintrusive load decomposition is preferred.

   However, in most existing nonintrusive load decomposition methods, the measure frequency of power meter is required in s-level or ms-level to ensure the performance. Actually, the time interval of most meter data for homes is as long as 15 min.

Our Idea

   A new nonintrusive method for home load decomposition has been disclosed with 15min-interval power meter data and sample information of power appliance based on typical appliance expert database.

Input:
1) Customer investigation: obtain the type and rated power of electricity appliance in homes.

2) Power meter data of home (active power in 15 min interval)

3) Typical appliance expert database for their power consumption mode
4) Empirical knowledge: improve the accuracy of load decomposition utilizing the empirical knowledge of the load pattern. Output:
1) The switch on/off status of each appliance
2) Error between total load decomposition value and actual total load by m...
