Method of optimization of the path between sequential options within 'right click menu'

Menu which is available under the right click of the mouse/touchpad often contains sub-menus hidden under the different options. In more complex cases sub-menus can have next sub-menus etc. Challenge is that for not skilled touchpad user or in not comfortable circumstances going through all menus choosing right options can be difficult.

Following article describes method of optimization of the path between sequential options based on user activities history. As the result path that need to be followed by the user is shorter and as such less error sensitive. It describes the method of optimization of mouse/touchpad path which need to be followed by the user while using 'right click menus', based on individual activities statistics within application. Said optimization is reached by sub-menus displayed in such way, that path going through most commonly chosen options will be shorter and as such less error sensitive.

Menu which is available under the right click of the mouse/touchpad often contains sub-menus hidden under the different options. In more complex cases sub-menus can have next sub-menus etc. like in the example below:

Challenge is that for not skilled touchpad user or in not comfortable circumstances going through all menus choosing right options can be difficult. Idea is to use following approach in order to make the path shorter:


1. based on individual activity history, system is predicting which set of options is

most frequently chosen for the particular application/icon/object type (the set of most frequently chosen options will be referred as FUO)

2. Based on the most frequently chosen options, the UI windows layout is calculated in such way that the FUO path is shortest possible

Details of the steps above:
