Abstract

A time based dynamic password will enable user to identify a password character(or more characters as needed) as dynamic based on the current time(customer defined time filed, could be minutes value or hour value even second value). So that the account password could be a dynamic one which will increase the account security level.

Time based dynamic password authentication

Currently, the passwords we are using on mobile devices or pc are all static. The disadvantage of this kind of password is if someone is watching you typing the password, he/she may remember it. Even some graphic unlock method has the same problem. So the dynamic or partly dynamic password will be an advantage on account security.

A time based dynamic password will enable user to identify a password character(or more characters as needed) as dynamic based on the current time(customer defined time filed, could be minutes value or hour value even second value). So that the account password could be a dynamic one which will increase the account security level.

The invention is to turn the current static password into dynamic one by involving "time" as a variable.

Take one smart phone unlocking screen with 4 digits password as an example. The original password is 3420. We replace 3rd digit "2" with the 2nd digit of minute. In this example, sine the current time is 10:17, value should be "7". So the password to unlock this device, is 3470. In the next minute, the password should be 3480 /.
