SUMMARY

This invention relates to the flavor and oral care compositions in liquid, spray dried and glassy encapsulations in confectionery, beverages, mouthwash, toothpaste, dental gel, dental sprays, dental powder, that contain cooling agent COMPOUND I (N-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-N-(thiophen-2- ylmethyl)-2-(p-tolyloxy)acetamide) to provide long lasting cooling sensation.

DESCRIPTION

The following applications were prepared..

Chewing Gum: COMPOUND I (N-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-N-(thiophen-2-ylmethyl)-2-(p- tolyloxy)acetamide) was tested at 40 ppm and 60 ppm in solvent as liquid and spray dried to achieve 60 min of long lasting during consumption.

Hard Candy: COMPOUND I (N-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-N-(thiophen-2-ylmethyl)-2-(p- tolyloxy)acetamide) was tested at 5 ppm and 10 ppm in solvent as liquid and spray dried to achieve at least 10 min of long lasting post consumption.

Beverage: COMPOUND I (N-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-N-(thiophen-2-ylmethyl)-2-(p- tolyloxy)acetamide) was tested at 0.5 ppm and 1 ppm in solvent as liquid and spray dried to achieve 45 min of long lasting post consumption.

Toothpaste: The preferable range should be between 1 ppm and 50 ppm . More preferably between 5 ppm and 25 ppm, and most preferably between 7 ppm and 15 ppm.

The preferred optional ingredients include but are not limited to surfactants, humectants, preservatives, sweeteners, flavors, abrasives, thickeners and colors/dyes. For oral care, the end products may also contain active and inactive ingredients that provide therapeutic benefits such as Anticavity, Antiplaque/Antigingivitis, Antihypersensitivity, and cosmetic benefits such as whitening and/or stain prevention. Also soothing benefits, such as dry mouth relief.

The applications useful for the compound and formulations described herein include:

 Chewing gum, candy, compressed tablets, ready to drink products, powdered soft drinks, alcoholic beverages.

Chewing Gum:

Preparation

An unflavoured chewing gum base was prepared having the following ingredients in the amounts shown.

To prepare the chewing gum base, a Sigma-blade mixer was pre-heated to 45°C-50°C and half of the polyols were added. The gum base was pre-heated to 60°C-65°C and added to the mixer.

Mixing was carried out for approximately 4 minutes. The remaining polyols and humectants (Table: 1) were added and mixing was continued for a further 4 minutes.

The unflavoured chewing gum prepared above was then made into the chewing gum compositions shown in the following tables:
